After 2 years Covid lockdown I escaped on my own to Ecudaor; my first visit to South America. The plan was mountains, islands and jungle. The islands being the ecuadorian territory of the Galapagos Islands. Although travelling solo I was always with company. Took local buses and sat next to locals in traditional costume. Hiking was wonderful although tough since over 4000m with little acclimatisation. Quito was pleasant but always had a sense of danger which eventuated in me being robbed. Staying in a river lodge in the Amazon was delightful; the sounds of the jungle were captivating.
