Tunisia
If one leaves the coastal holiday resorts there are many riches to be found in this ex-French colony

25 March - 8 April 1999

Jacqueline & I just booked a flight which took us to the Tunisian capital of Tunis. The country is french speaking which made travel easy. After a few days exploring the capital and surroundings we took an internal flight to Tozeur. This flight took us not only into the desert but also back in time. There was little western influence which was greatly refreshing. The south of Tunisia was fascinating and highly recommended. Food was good and the local transport cheap and very efficient. Highlights included a night sleeping under the stars in the desert and a day in Tataouine where many aspects of local culture were on display.
