5 of us joined our madventure tour guide to drive us around the newly opened Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Haroon, our Saudi guide, became my room mate and we had a rich time learning about our cultures. The tour was comfortable and covered most of the highlights of the country. It was a privilege to visit Medina although we coud not visit the area of the Prophet's mosque; also we could not visit Mecca. It was hot as expected (46C) but bearable. A most enjoyable aspect was being the only tourists in town; we had world heritage sites to ourselves. The local food was outstanding. My alcohol and latte diet was displaced by lemon mint long drinks and Saudi coffee which I became quite addicted to. On leaving the tour I made my way via train and bus to Bahrain.
