Spent a night in Grande Comore, Comoros to transit to
Madagascar. Returned to the island via
Mayotte. The mixture of arabic, swahili and
french culture can be observed in the island. Mosques awaken one in the morning, then pain au chocolat for breakfast followed by an early market visit to see ladies in african dress. The nation, alas, suffers from poor government
and the stacks of garbage and poor utilities makes for a challenging visit. I escaped the capital, Moroni, for a day in the hope of finding rural paradise but the journey by local buses was disappoinitng. At Mitsamiouli village the beach was
the filthfiest I've ever seen. A few klicks out of town a cleaned beach was accessible for a fee; a beautiful beach but no one had the motivation to open a bar or even a drinks store. I was glad to leave.
