Laos

A first adventure with Julian. We flew to the west of Laos, Phonsavan, and I was surprised how under developed the country was (155/197 GDP/capita). Jules took it in his stride which was excellent; even the grulleing 9 hour minibus drive across the mountains. For New Year's day we took a balloon flight in Vang Vieng. Alas food poisoning took the shine off the holiday for Julian; I explored Luang Prabang whilst he recovered. A stay in the remote elephant sanctuary in Sayaboury was refreshing. A stay in the capital, Vientiane, completed our eduaction. The boy did well.
