Inter Rail 1981
First year of university complete and the lads took full advantage of the great value
European Inter Rail pass. We ventured forth into the unknown and after this tour I was hooked; exploring was wonderful.
2nd Tour
19 August - 17 September 1982
Inter Rail 1982
Another crazy Inter Rail tour of Europe with intially girlfriend and sister and then seperated
to go with with Braz for an unforgetable exploration of the Iberian peninsula.
3rd Tour
22 August - 19 September 1984
Inter Rail 1984
Fiona and I decided to hit Greece and the islands using the Inter Rail pass as the low cost
means to get there. On the spur of the moment we decided to visit Turkey and I loved the feel of such an exotic place.
4th Tour
13 June 1990 - 5 June 1991
Round The World
Braz, Fern & I decided to quit our jobs and spend 1 year travelling the world. It was the best
decision of my life. A truly wonderful experience where after the initial planned 6 months we just followed our nose for 6 months.
5th Tour
6 September - 6 October 1997
South-West Africa Tour
The 1 month Guerba tour of South-West Africa was my first experience of Sub-Saharan Africa.
The sights were amazing and watching the wildlife in Etosha was truly special.
6th Tour
21 October - 21 November 1998
Central America Tour
The 1 month Dragoman tour of Central America was quite confronting due to Hurricane Mitch and the ugly poverty in which many lived.
7th Tour
24 July - 20 August 1999
East Europe Tour
Pete and I toured Eastern Europe by train for 1 month with the ultimate objective of experiencing
a total solar eclipse in Romania. We started in
Poland and then headed south
through Slovakia, Hungary and finally Romania.
8th Tour
25 November 2000 - 9 January 2001
West Africa Tour
The 6 week Dragoman overland tour began for me in Accra,
Ghana. A challenge
was most on board were half way through a London - Cape Town adventure
so integrating socially was quite difficult.
9th Tour

Central Asia Tour
I joined the inaugral 1 month Dragoman tour of Central Asia. I was well prepared
historically having read about the Great Game and Timur. These were
young republics having seperated from the USSR only 10 years previously.
10th Tour
5 July 2002 - 12 June 2003
Anne & Mark's Odyssey Tour
Anne & I departed on our so called Odessey. The intention was for a 6 months tour but we
made it a year.We explored some amazing places such as Mongolia, the
Altai Mountains in Russia and Ethiopia.
11th Tour
9 - 23 June 2023
Balkan Cycle Tour
Fern, Braz & I spent a fun 15 days on an Exodus cycle tour of 4 Balkan countries. Really enjoyed the terrain, local food and drink and the
company of there other 3 guys on the tour; Guy, Steve and John. We cycled 586km and climbed 7301m.
