25 October - 3 November 1998

Crossing from Panama we stayed in paradise; the Esquinas rain forest lodge. Whilst sipping beer one watched a range of the most exotic birds pass by e.g. Humming birds, Woodpeckers, Tanagers and Toucans. On the rain forest walk, which was very muddy, we saw Leaf cutting ants, white faced capuchin monkeys and the dazzling blue morphos butterfly. At the Las Baulas national marine park I had the privilege of watching a huge leatherback turtle laying eggs. From this natural paradise we continued onto Nicaragua.
